Needs and Wants
In Kindy, we have been learning about what we need to stay alive, as well as things that aren't necessary for survival. Here the children are sorting out needs from wants in small groups.

Summary Cube
Kindergarten love the summary cube! It really helps them with comprehension. You can make your own at home by printing a cube 'net' off the Internet.
Simply read a book (or watch a film) with your cherub and write down six sentences that help to summarise the text, then roll the dice. Your child then talks about the part of the book that the sentence reflects, as well as what happens before and after this.

Big Book Group Read!
Kindy have been working on improving their fluency when reading. We have been trying really hard to 'read the way we speak'. The best way to practice this is to use familiar texts, such as 'Who is in the shed?'.

Our goals
Kindergarten students have worked with myself and our SSO, Mrs Johnston, to develop personal goals for their learning. I encourage you to discuss your child's goal with them. The goals have been written on leaves to be part of our 'GROW' tree.
